Why luffy his scar

Over one thousand chapters and or-so episodes later, the franchise is still going strong, as Monkey D. Luffy's Straw Hat crew continue their search for Gol D. Roger's fabled treasure and the mythical island Raftel or, indeed, Laugh Tale. As One Piece fans of any experience level will know, Luffy is an impulsive sort, even for a Shonen Jump protagonist. He's the type to jump into battles headfirst, throw his friends off cliffs, and poison himself just to prove a point.

It's hardly surprising that Luffy has a few battle wounds then. The large X-shaped mark on his chest was added following One Piece 's two-year time skip - a lingering gift from Akainu at the Battle of Marineford though some maintain the wound was inflicted during a filler episode - and Luffy has a curious resistance to poison after his noxious battle with Magellan at Impel Down. But Luffy's most prominent scar is undoubtedly the small curved cut beneath his eye, present from the very beginning of One Piece.

For anime-only fans, the cause of this scar may be a complete mystery. One Piece initially neglected to show how Luffy came to have the mark upon his face, leaving viewers to assume it was simply the result of a childhood misadventure. Manga readers, however, will know exactly how Luffy's cheek got blemished.

In One Piece 's very first chapter, a young Monkey D. Luffy has two cuts. Luffy did get the first of two in the beginning in One Piece. When he was just a child, Luffy wanted to prove to his friend Shanks and his crew that he was sturdy enough to become a pirate. So, he cut his face by using an axe. Jinbe attempts to transport the catatonic Luffy to safety. Still, Akainu utilizes its Magu Magu Fruit powers to hit Jinbe to take out Luffy, however, despite Jinbe failing to strike the death punch to either.

Zoro Sharpens His Fangs! It is the same episode that saw Luffy is wounded. Usopp, along with Chopper, is pursued by the snake. After they escape, They are isolated from the other characters. They also encounter Zoro, who sneers at the trio. But Luffy appears to be a target. Zoro finally meets Luffy and Luffy.

He slashes Luffy with his swords. They believe Luffy attracted Zoro. Luffy advises the other characters to follow him towards the temple, but Luffy stays behind to fight Zoro. Zoro defeated Luffy by using his Oni Giri attack. But, the Straw Hats decide to remain with Robin and abandon Nami at home. Nami, however, decides to join the Straw Hats to retrieve her gold.

In the forests, Zoro and Luffy continue to battle. On arrival to when they arrive at the Palace, Robin explains that there was a mythical monster who ate the memories of others to survive and live on the island. Nami and Usopp attempt to capture the Straw Hats but are confronted by a cloaked boy. Since the boy was unconscious after the kick, his memory was lost.

A boy who was confused about where he was, fled. The seahorse informs Chopper that it is still at its first resort. It attempts to escape but is snatched by Sanji. After regaining their memories, they are wondering whether Zoro has recovered his memories. Zoro is seen approaching them with a sly smile, and Sanji is ready to take on Zoro.

That is the reason for the confusion is created. Following the death of his younger brother Ace, Jinbe carried him and attempted to escape via Akainu. Jinbe dives into the sea; however, he finds the sea below frozen. Akainu manages to hit Jinbe and hurt Luffy simultaneously. Luffy has two scars: a stitch underneath his left eye, which he gave to himself with a knife by trying to prove his courage to Shanks and his crew back when he was a child. This is something the anime skipped over given its "violent subject matter," but in the manga, it's actually the first moment the audience sees after Gold Roger's famous challenge to the world to find the One Piece during his execution.

Luffy's second scar is a large "x" shape burned across his chest. He received this scar During the Marineford Arc, but it's not really seen in detail until after the timeskip. During the Paramount War, the shock of seeing his brother Ace was simply too much for Luffy and he resigned to dying at the hands of Admiral Akainu. However, his allies jumped in to protect Straw Hat, the fishman and Knight of the Sea, Jimbei, especially.

Jimbei carried Luffy's unconscious body away from the battlefield of Marineford while fleeing the relentless Akainu as he burned everything in his path with his magma devil fruit powers. Jimbei lept over into the harbor of Marineford but Akainu managed to follow after him.

During the fall, the admiral pierced through Jimbei's chest with his magma fist to reach the unconscious Luffy in Jimbei's arms.
