Peace, little Shadowhunter, said Brother Enoch. The bonds of parabatai are understood by the Brotherhood. After all, we bound you with them ourselves. You have our leave to speak to him, one last time, before he goes. My Jem, why did you have to become a silent brother. Well at least it was better than you dying. That is exactly what I felt until I read the epilogue. Then I was so happy I was hyperventilating! I still really want to know what Jem and Tessa are going to do about their… situation, though.
Same here!!!! I was like dying of happiness when I finished the book!!! K , obviously I ship the couples. Why was that not in the book? This made me cry so hard!!! Why must Jem be so perfectly understanding and compassionate?!
The feels. I mean, Tessa is trucking amazing, but Will and Jem embody the friendship that everyone wishes they had. It seems SO infinitely unfair that they were deprived of a life together.

Or, should I say, began to unfold. And this is where the spoilers start: final warning. Throughout the vast majority of Clockwork Princess, it was like Jem was preparing his goodbyes. He asked for his friends to cease their search for a cure because he had made peace with death, and was ready to move on. I was ready for him to move on. More on that in a bit. Meanwhile, Will has been holding back his feelings for Tessa, out of respect for her engagement to Jem.
And I will not be that person. I will not profit from his death. While I never doubted her feelings for Jem, I also doubted she would have remained loyal to him had Will made a move on her. Which, I guess, mostly happened the night they slept together. I could have found a way to justify both of these situations.
Will and Tessa truly believed that it was their last night alive, and so they acted on their pent up emotions and worked through their grief by being intimate with each other. Clare had to take everything one step further. As Jem leaves the Institute for the last time, having given both Tessa and Will his blessing, Will immediately begins to court Tessa.
The epilogue speaks to their success and happy marriage. This is all great right? We have an answer — Tessa ends up with Will! Which, of course, she accepts. Tessa literally got to have her cake, and eat it too. And all I could think was, you have got to be kidding me.
Kelly Goodwin Top 50 Reviewer reviews. Infernal Devices series by Cassandra Clare. May 25, I have become so attached to the characters of this story that it almost feels like they are are people that have lived at one point in time. My Clockwork Princess Review. May 15, I guess Cassandra was saving the best for last.
This book definitely took me on an emotional roller coaster. I have had to stop a couple of times while writing this review to compose myself. The ending was bitter sweet for me, but I felt that in the light of things it was for the best. Although I was not as impressed with the last two books, this one sold the series for me.
I was swept right into this book from the beginning. It was such an action packed, emotionally gripping, mind blowing ending to this series. I must say I have to hands down agree with what people have been saying about this last book. It was, quite frankly, an amazingly heart wrenching story. I felt that it so closely resembled the one from TMI. It seemed a bit repetitive. Then I realized what made it so different; Jem and Will were as close as two people could possibly be.
They were technically one and the same. Two souls connected to become one. As difficult as it may seem, Tessa loved two completely different people who were entirely the same, but for two completely different reasons. I myself was in favor of her ending up with Will.
He is a person I could see myself falling for. I was extremely happy when they ended up together, yet at the same time I was upset that in order for them to be together someone had to end up hurt. I still tear up just thinking of how this series ended! Throughout this book, I have been a huge fan of Henry.
He is just the comical humor this book needed. When I thought he was killed in battle, I had to take a moment to compose myself before I could continue reading. Then to be further upset with the hand that fate dealt him! I was shocked, upset, bewildered, and mortified that Henry was left in such a condescending state. He was a Shadowhunter for goodness sake!
Afterwards, I felt relief that he was alive. I am not sure how Charlotte would have carried on if she had lost him just when they had found out each others feelings. Not to mention the fact that she is about to have their baby! Their relationship also added a lot to this series. It was quite refreshing to see two complete opposites fall for one another. There was a lot of loss and heart ache in this book!
I was extremely overcome while reading this final installment. I mean imagine someone killing off your family and finding no justice. Although his anger has escalated beyond that of a sensible person, he sees his motives as a justification for his families deaths. I really hated the first half of the epilogue about Will's death.
She should have written about when Will and Tessa were together like 10 years later instead about Will dying.
Warning: TMI spoilers below. Don't look if you haven't read TMI and plan on doing so! I think since Tessa has just reunited with Jem they will be together for a while, but once all the hard core things go down, by the end of the Shadowhunter world that Cassandra Clare has created I've heard she is making another spin-off , they will somehow die together.
I don't think it will be right for Tessa to have to go through all that pain again of losing her love. However, Clare is prone to making her readers happy and may allow Jem immortality. I just reeeeeaaaaaallly hope Magnus doesn't die.
I thought it had a good ending. I mean how many books have you read where the girl gets both the guys? I also thought the part about Wills death was super depressing too, but I think he would have wanted Tessa to be with Jem if he couldn't and vice verse. He would have wanted them both to be happy. For me Clockwork Princess will be awesome without the Epilogue. So Cassie wanted us to read more than just 'some Disney story' but served us a happy end for all?

I think the ending was well thought through and really shocked me! Even though Will is my favorite, I don't think Jem or Tessa deserves to be alone.

And I would not bother comparing it with Disney if CC didn't fancy herself by comparing the plot with Disney story when she was explaining the Epilogue. Obviously, not everyone was happy about the Epilogue for her to get such question hence to answer it. I am also not clear of why she needed to compare it with Disney. Apr 05, PM. After all he only became a silent brother to help Will and Tessa fight mortmain as he couldnt leave them to go on a suicide mission by themselves.
It was really just another curse the same as Wlls.. Nurlely wrote: "Jordan wrote: "It's not the end yet. I think the ending was well thought throug Plus I wasn't the one started to compare to Disney, I thought you were the one who did.
I'm sorry if I didn't read that correctly but that's what I thought you meant. Hannah wrote: "but doesnt Jem deserve a happy ending the same as Will? After all he only became a silent brother to help Will and Tessa fight mortmain as he couldnt leave them to go on a suicide mission by themse Even though Will is my favorite, I think people need to realize that Jem did what he did for them and that Jem and Tessa are now happy.
She will never stop loving Will, but she never stopped loving Jem either. Point taken. Well said. I'm so confused as to why people think Tessa and Will never had a happily ever after. They were married for 30 years and even had two kids. Will died of natural causes, and several decades later, she and Jem get to be together in the same way. What's wrong with that? It's like people are only happy if Jem is left completely, miserably alone and only Will gets to have Tessa, or nobody else can. That doesn't make sense and it isn't how a person can be expected to live for eternity and be happy.
Of course, Tessa will love somebody else. She's well over a hundred years old. It'd be weird if she didn't, and I'm so happy she gets to be with Jem now the way she always wanted to be. Apr 07, PM. Jordan wrote: "Yeah, for Will it is the end, but everyone well besides immortals are going to die anyway. I doubt that Cassie has any bad intention comparing her work with Disney, who by far is greater than her.
Her reason is still vague though. So sorry if I have made you feel that I 'accused' you of doing so. I feel it is so funny when people say that me and others who didn't like the ending as them who want Jem to be left alone.
CA and CP are not telling so. Tessa even said Yes to Jem's proposal based more on pity and unhappiness after that than love. And her question "Don't you" to Will about her love to Jem says it loud and clear about her feeling for Jem.
