How does sig decocker work

Usually I just use my hand to pull the rail back. I shove in a loaded mag, pull back the slide and let it go forward into battery. Going from Safe to Fire resets the trigger and the first shot is double action with all the rest single action until the mag is empty and the slide locks back. Is that how yours works too? Add: It's actually my son's PMK, he just lets me keep it for him. I shoot single action revolvers, this little self-loader is bleeding-edge technology to me.

I can't figure out how they make working guns out of gutta percha or whatever that new "polly-mer" stuff is, and what's this "stainless steel" I keep hearing about? I think this new-fangled "smokeless" powder may be just a passing fad, too. Images: January 14th, , AM mikec. Originally Posted by MauiWowie.

In training with such pistols, the realities imposed by the decocker must be recognized and accommodated.

With normal firing grip, shooter is unable to reach decocking safety. In many cases, a pistol manufacturer will offer a variety of systems available on the same platform. For example, a Beretta model 96G decock only looks almost exactly like a model 96FS decocking safety and it takes more than a casual examination to note the huge difference between the two. The Ruger P-series guns use a different shaped lever to help distinguish the two systems more readily. Support hand approaches and operates decocking safety, then moves into two-handed grip.

Ruger P95 and Beretta 92FS with slide-mounted decocking safeties. Click here to cancel reply. Good info! I had no idea other firearms set a safety when dexxxxed. I am better informed now, thanks! Excellent article. The dexxxxer was a marvel to me. It has long since become a very easy thing to do. Oh, well. Thanks for the comments everybody. James McGillis — There are some leftie techniques but they are pretty gun specific. As a general rule I would say that as they have done forever southpaws will simply have to work out a reasonably efficient method if they are forced to use a RH dexxxx gun.

Move along. December 9th, , PM MauiWowie. Images: 3. Just pull the slide back to empty the unshot round the de-cocker is used if you plan on holstering the weapon. To use the decocker you must pull the hammer back then push the decocker while pulling the trigger If you've never done this before do it WITHOUT a round in the chamber first!!!!

I have great success with this VERY cheap ammo in my skeeter! Originally Posted by guthook. Not sure this will help, but I just bought a Sig which has a decocker. Having never used one before, I thought mine didn't work since I would slide it down and nothing happened.

I found out that it doesn't actually do anything until the lever is almost all of the way down, then it releases the hammer. Don't believe it when you hear "gently" lower the hammer. It flys. Thanks very much to everyone who replied. There is a catch point on the decocker that makes it feel as if you have swept it as low as it can go.

But in fact, you need to keep swiping it downwards to activate -- whereas I was previously stopping. You saved me a trip back to the gun store and probably being laughed at to boot. Now hopefully I haven't damaged the firing pin by releasing the hammer without decocking it a half dozen times.
