Why do men have homosexual tendencies
Yeah, well what I would like to see first is acknowledgement, more mainstream acknowledgement that everybody has homosexual sex. No one would ever choose to be queer, so of course it must be something that I have no choice about, that I have no control over. Rather, we recognize that racial and ethnic communities and cultures have tremendous value in and of themselves, and so I think similarly that there are many, many reasons to want to be queer, and because queerness, unlike race or gender, is something that we can cultivate in our lives, it makes perfect sense to me that people would.
You scratch the surface and right underneath you encounter a lot of internalized homophobia. This interview has been edited and condensed.

Why do these men still identify as straight? Why are they not considered bisexual? Identifying as straight also meant they could avoid stigma and feel connected to a socially dominant group. Many felt that sex with men was irrelevant to their identities given other aspects of their lives. Furthermore, sexuality is multidimensional, and attractions, behaviours and identities do not always align.
When a straight-identified man has sex with another man, he views himself as straight despite sex with men. These men are secretive about their sexual behaviour, but not their identity. In fact, sexual encounters with men are mostly irrelevant to their identity.
However, the majority of the men, supported same-sex marriage and the right for same-sex couples to raise children. Most of us assume that these three orientations encompass the universe of sexual identities.

Yet the evidence suggests that more young men identify or describe themselves as mostly straight than identify as either bisexual or gay combined. A — U. Given such constraints, these young men were left with no place to truthfully register their sexuality, thus forcing them to be less than honest.
For my book, I spoke with 40 mostly straight young men, some over the course of several years. They were a very diverse group. In high school, they were hipsters, jocks, nerds, druggies, skaters, class clowns, burnouts and straight-laced achievers.
Long hair, short hair, clean-shaven, bearded, tattooed, pierced, muscular, lanky, hyper and pudgy. Women, by contrast, we give more space to be sexually fluid, as the sizeable literature on the subject attests. Large nationally representative surveys show that hundreds of thousands of straight American men — at least — have had sex with two or more other men. This finding represents a disconnect between identity and behaviour, and researchers from around the world - in the United States , Australia and the U.
It involves two related but separate issues: first, why men identify as straight if they have sex with other men, and second, why straight men would have sex with other men in the first place.
As part of my research, I spoke with 60 straight men who have sex with other men, and specifically looked at men in rural areas and small towns. The majority of men I interviewed were primarily attracted to women, not men.
So why would they have sex with other men? My findings revealed several reasons as to why straight men have sex with other men.
